POSTTRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER IN THE WAKE OF NATURAL DISASTERS

Abstract


Bencana Tsunami yang melanda Provinsi Aceh, Indonesia pada tanggal 26 Desember 2004 telah menyebabkan lebih dari 200.000 orang meninggal dunia dan hilang. Selain itu, banyak korban yang kehilangan rumah mereka, pekerjaan dan harta benda. Setelah bencana Tsunami diperkirakan sekitar 50% orang mengalami stress psikologis dan 5-10% mengalami gangguan psikiatrik yang berhubungan dengan stress. Gangguan Stress Pasca Trauma adalah gangguan psikiatrik yang lazim muncul setelah mengalami bencana, khususnya korban dari bencana. Gangguan Stress Pasca Trauma dapat terjadi pada tahun awal pada kelompok-kelompok yang beresiko. Meskipun demikian, Gangguan Stress Pasca Trauma dapat terjadi setelah 4 tahun kemudian.
