UNCOVERING THE HIDDEN CHARACTER BEHIND THE FAKE BADAL GUPTA IN BADLA

Abstract


Badla (Revenge) is a Bollywood crime mystery thriller movie starred by Amitabh Bachchan as a fake Badal Gupta (attorney) and Taapsee Pannu as Naina Sethi (businesswoman). The story is based on an interview between Badal Gupta and Naina Sethi who claimed that she was framed to be the one who is responsible for the murder of her lover. The objective of this study was to find out the clues given by the fake Badal Gupta to who he really is and the motive for his disguise. A content analysis was performed to analyse Badal Gupta’s words as clues to reveal the real character behind Badal Gupta and the motive for the disguise. The writer finds out that the person behind Badal Gupta was Nirmal, the father of Sunny, who was drowned killed by Naina and the motive was revenge. This crime mystery movie conveyed the messages that in the end, the truth will prevail.
